TechFOMO #2: Groundbreaking AI audio transformer & AI on your desktop

Working with Claude 3.5 Tools and using the latest AIs on desktop

This last week

I’ve been working with the Claude Tools API to generate structured JSON responses from Anthropic’s AI. Using an LLM to extract structured data makes web scraping content significantly easier. My go to workflow now involves:

  1. Scrape webpage to Markdown using either FireCrawl or UseScraper.

  2. Submitting a message with a prompt to identify specific parts of the page in Markdown.

  3. Respond using the structure described in the Claude Tool I created.

AI Audio

With everyone talking about AI text generation, AI audio often goes under the radar. Most recently ElevenLabs continue to impress with the text to speech/voice API and recently released an impressive AI voice isolation demo that includes a leaf blower.

But in terms of something fresh, Artlist caught my eye. They’ll transform your voice in a variety of ways including age and gender.

Integrating AI into your desktop flow

macOS will soon have AI featured backed in, but in the meantime I’ve seen a number of apps bringing more and more integrated AI to the desktop including Alice.

Worthy alternatives include…

Personal productivity

I’m a sucker for trying new task managers. Blitzit caught my attention because of it’s focus on flow state, native desktop app and analytics.

A little extra

I don’t think anyone predicted AI being used to negotiate the price of a mattresses. Fair credit to the company, they seem to have predicted many of the usual jailbreaking techniques.
